My Murals and Public Art Projects of 2018

My Murals and Public Art Projects of 2018

2018 was a very fruitful year for me in public art projects and private murals. It started with an interior mural for the Equine Sciences Center of Colorado State University in Fort Collins, CO. The mural is representing all of the programs and activities of the center. It was created in April. *** In May I painted a floral mural on the walls of a private house in the RINO district of Denver. The mural turned the backyard into a colorful paradise that will bloom all year around. *** Next were two Ground murals for the 40 West ArtLine in Lakewood, CO. My first ground mural for this project, “Movement”, was painted on the sidewalk of 17th Street, between Pierce and Reed streets in Lakewood, CO at the end of May. *** The mural “Blooming city” was painted on the sidewalk in Mountair Park at the beginning of June. *** Another interesting project created for the 40 West ArtLine in Lakewood was fence art. It is covering an ugly construction equipment storage site on Lamar Street, on a busy route for pedestrians who use the Lightrail. The project was created in June with the huge help of my husband Nick Angelo. *** In July I painted a mural in a nursery in the Chinoiserie style, romantic blue tones of the mural, peony and pomegranates flowers and fruits, birds create a very peaceful atmosphere. *** In September I won a call to create a mural covering the walls of the underpass in Longmont CO. The mural was painted in October. *** And my last public art project of 2018 was a mural for the Denver’s Urban Arts Fund graffiti prevention Mural Program. It was...
Ground Mural Painting in Mountair Park

Ground Mural Painting in Mountair Park

My second ground mural painting for Lakewood’s 40 West Art Line. The mural is painted right next to the children’s playground and baseball field in Mountair Park. The mural is called “Blooming city”. The mural design was inspired by the agricultural history of Lakewood and the urban farm that is also in Mountair Park. The flowers and plants represent the growth and new beginnings that are happening in the city. To see the design for both murals please visit this post >   My first mural for the 40 West Artline “Movement” is painted on the sidewalk of 17th Street, between Pierce and Reed streets also in Lakewood, CO.  To see pictures of it please visit my previous blog post > _____________ Lakewood, CO /...

First Ground Mural for the 40 West Artline is Completed

On Friday, June First, the 40 West Artline was launched. The same day I finished my first ground mural for this project in Lakewood, CO. The size of the mural is 6′ by 11′. My mural “Movement” is painted on the sidewalk of 17th Street, between Pierce and Reed streets in Lakewood, CO. Dynamic lines and elements of transportation in the mural are in spired by the proximity of the DMV and Aviation park. Bright colors and cheerful atmosphere are welcoming changes and represent hope for the best future. I was working for three days under the strong Colorado sun and of course got sunburned. My second mural for the 40 West Artline will be painted in Mountair Park, between June 7th and 9th. The Creation of an Interior Mural for a Swimming Pool

The Creation of an Interior Mural for a Swimming Pool

The Interior mural for Lakewood Link Recreation Center Swimming pool was created spring 2017. The wall art was painted with high-build epoxy based paint. This material tenaciously adheres to the substrate to resist moisture, abrasion, chemical attack and extreme temperatures.     Tha mural was painted by me, with my husband, Nick Angelo. The first day two ladies from the Lakewood volunteer group were learning the techniques of mural painting. The Rocky Mountains and bright sun were the centerpieces of the mural. The view of the mural from the center floor, where the entrance into the water slide is located. We’re enjoying the finished mural.    The wall before and after the mural.
