Aurora Fox Art Center mural
In the summer of 2019 I created a mural project for Fox Art Theater in Aurora, CO.
Four walls adjasent to the theater were covered in murals, each telling the separate story of the theater’s unique past, it’s present, theaters repertoire and culture.
The south-facing wall goes back into the pre-fire history of the theater with retro ambiance. Featured characters have 50’s and 70’s clothing. The film tape shows frames of the old movies.
The second, West facing fall, is showing the time when the fire almost destroyed the theater and how it was rebuilt back with the help of the local community.
The third wall is representing the children half of the theatre’s repertoire.
The fourth wall’s mural, Colfax facing, is featuring a classic representation of the theater: a muse, patroness of the arts, a harp, theatrical masks, a jester and a cupid, devil, romantic serenade musician, and two ladies wearing masks. It greets people driving or walking by and letting people know that it is a drama theater.
This past blog post > is explaining in more details the story and the theme of each mural, please check it out if you want to learn more.
