Farmers Market Mural in Lakewood
May 2017/ Lakewood, CO
The mural was painted on one side of a high profile shipping container. The container is used as a stand at the 40 West Farmers’ Market located at Lamar Station Plaza in front of Casa Bonita (6759 W.Colfax Ave. in Lakewood, Colorado).
The theme of the mural is dictated by its location: the farmers market. So agriculture, fields, and farms are the main subjects.
The Rocky Mountains to the west of the landscape remind us that we are in Colorado.
The Colorado state flower: blue columbine and state bird: Lark Bunting are here as well.
Dairy farms used to be a big part of Lakewood’s agricultural past.
Locally grown fruits and vegetables: peaches, green chili, and watermelons are famous throughout the Western states.
The containers door is featuring a few blue Columbine flowers, Colorado symbols.
