Landover Hills Town Hall Tower Mural | Public Art by Yulia Avgustinovich

This symbolic public art mural was created for the Town Hall tower in Landover Hills, Maryland, as part of the city’s public art program. Designed to be viewed from multiple directions, the project consists of three distinct murals painted on different sides of the tower, each celebrating a key layer of civic identity.

One mural features Maryland state symbols, honoring the state’s heritage and visual identity. Another presents the American flag accompanied by a bald eagle, representing national pride and shared values. The third mural incorporates the official seal of Landover Hills, grounding the artwork firmly in local history and community representation. Together, the murals form a cohesive visual narrative that reflects local, state, and national significance within a single architectural structure.
Painted directly on the exterior surface using professional-grade acrylic paints, the murals were designed with durability, visibility, and long-term maintenance in mind. The elevated placement required careful planning, surface preparation, and coordination to ensure both safety and visual clarity at scale. The compositions were developed to remain legible from a distance while offering detailed symbolic elements up close.

The completed murals transform the Town Hall tower into a civic landmark, enhancing the public space while visually reinforcing the city’s identity and values.
