Symbolic Public Mural in Boise, Idaho | Downtown Boise Public Art

In downtown Boise, Idaho, I created a large-scale symbolic public mural that celebrates the state’s identity and the rich historical and cultural character of the city. This public artwork was commissioned by the Alexa Rose Foundation and designed to serve as a visual story of Idaho—its land, people, and shared values.

The mural weaves together iconic state symbols and meaningful cultural references that reflect Boise’s past and present. Elements such as the mountain bluebird, Idaho’s state bird, syringa flowers, and the distinctive silhouette of the Sawtooth Mountains anchor the composition in the natural landscape of the region. These symbols are layered alongside references to Boise’s Basque heritage, pioneer history, and architectural character, creating a narrative that honors both tradition and community evolution.

Painted at a monumental scale of 80 feet, the mural was executed using exterior acrylic paint selected for its durability, color retention, and ability to withstand Idaho’s changing weather conditions. The installation required working from an 86-foot lift, allowing me to carefully develop both large compositional elements and fine details across the expansive surface.

This symbolic public mural functions not only as a work of art but also as a civic landmark—one that invites residents and visitors to pause, reflect, and connect with the story of Boise. By translating history, nature, and cultural identity into visual language, the mural strengthens a sense of place and reinforces the power of public art to bring communities together.

Manhattan Commercial Mural | Floral Office Staircase Art for WestCap

This commercial mural project was completed in the heart of Manhattan for WestCap, transforming a functional staircase into an immersive, nature-inspired transition space. The mural connects the interior office environment with the rooftop terrace above, visually extending the outdoor experience throughout the building.

The artwork features a botanical composition inspired by native New York flowers and plants—many of which can also be found on the building’s rooftop terrace. By mirroring the local landscape, the mural creates continuity between indoor and outdoor spaces while grounding the artwork in regional identity. The floral forms soften the architectural lines of the stairwell and introduce warmth, movement, and color into a high-traffic interior circulation area.

Designed specifically for a commercial office setting, the mural enhances the daily experience of employees and visitors as they move through the space. Rather than serving as decoration alone, the artwork functions as a placemaking element—encouraging movement, curiosity, and connection to nature within a dense urban environment.

The mural was painted directly on-site inside an active office building, requiring thoughtful coordination, adaptability, and attention to detail. The vertical flow of the composition naturally guides viewers upward, reinforcing the physical journey from the workspace to the rooftop terrace. Durable, professional-grade materials were used to ensure longevity in a heavily trafficked commercial setting.
